Central Falls, Rhode Island is asking the General Assembly to give cities and towns the Rhode Island the ability to file for bankruptcy protection. While the city may not have to file for Chapter 9 bankruptcy, it would like the option to do so if it would be beneficial. The request comes as cities are financially-strapped due to cuts in state aid.
